What's Your Weight Loss Philosophy - Deprivation vs Pleasure?

A few friends and I were talking recently. All of us are currently active and in pretty good shape. One of our friends, even though we all know that she was previously overweight, we have only ever known since she was fit and healthy (she now runs marathons!), and so it has been difficult for us to actually imagine that version of her. It wasn't until one day she brought along some photos of herself before she lost the weight that we could actually grasp how far she'd come and we were blown away by the transformation. This started us talking about what she did to get to where she is now, and it really reinforced to me, how much a successful weightloss journey is a journey of the mind.

I know there are a lot of people out there who want quick fixes or just think of weightloss as an isolated goal, but I have always been of the opinion that being at a goal weight is by-product of living an all-round healthy life, which in my mind includes a healthy or positive way of thinking.

For these reasons, when I recently came across the philosophy and teachings of Tonya Leigh, they really resonated with me, and I thought they could really benefit a lot of women out there (of course this stuff can be useful for men too, however Tonya seems to have chosen to focus her efforts on women). Tonya's philosophy which has pleasure at its core, is reportedly derived from the French culture. The idea of daily consistent habits causing the biggest results in life echoes those Mireille Guiliano discussed in French Women Don't Get Fat

Tonya says:

"Your outer world – the weight, food choices, your wardrobe, your home, job, relationships – is simply a reflection of what’s going on in your inner world - the connection to your mind and body and the thoughts that you choose to believe.

When you begin to clean up your inner world, your outer world doesn’t have a choice but to align with it."

So, if you were to stop now and think about it - is it time for a clean up? Because really, the weight issue is often not really just about weight, but much deeper issues. Perhaps you already know this and have your own way of dealing with it, but if any of this resonates with you at all, wouldn't it be at least a bit of fun, and possibly life changing to start exploring Tonya's way of thinking - to rule your own world and "live a life full of pleasure and passion WHILE looking and feeling fabulous."

Happy "cleaning"! :)
